The Penguins are in Colorado to take on the Avalanche in a back to back game situation. The Penguins are going to be down a few key players tonight. Those players include Sidney Crosby (upper body injury), Chris Kunitz and Brooks Orpik (lower-body injuries), and Olli Maatta (upper body injury). Coach Dan Bylsma stated "They're injuries that every one of the players have been playing with." He went on to say, "It wasn't prudent to [have them play] in back-to-back games. Every player offers resistance [to sitting]. Every player wants to play every game, be in every game." Jussi Jokinen will return to the lineup tonight, but the Penguins are going to be down so many key players. It's going to be a tough game for the Penguins, but they need to rely on there grinders and work hard tonight to get the win! Lets Go Pens!

0:00- We are headed to a shootout as three periods and overtime are not enough to settle this one! Flower is the reason they made it this far!
0:37- Martin is called for delay of game and the Avs get a huge PP opportunity.
1:39- Neal stops right at the blue line and puts a pass on Bortuzzo crashing into the Avs zone, but he just can't handle the puck right.
3:15- Flower flashes the glove on a fast shot! It was actually a little behind him, but Flower wasn't having any of that!
4:20- Sutter can't find the rebound and the Avs are able to clear. Such a close one for the Pens.
5:00- Overtime is underway! The Pens need to get one early and ends this game with a win! Lets Go Pens!
3rd Period
0:00- We are headed to overtime! The #Pens didn't hold onto their lead and the Avs battled back to tie it up 2-2!
3:13- BORDELEAU SCORES! Benoit wrist a shot from the blue line and there is a ton of traffic in front of Flower. Bordeleau gets a piece of it to direct it into the net. 2-2 tie game.
4:53- Sutter rifles one and it beats Varlamov, but not the post! Could hear the ring of the post from Pittsburgh!
5:47- The Pens don't get much on the PP and Landeskog comes out of the box to put the Avs back to full strength.
7:47- Megna gets a huge chance after some huge blocked shots at the other end, but is mauled on the play! Landeskog will sit for tripping and the Pens will get a huge PP chance!
10:32- The Pens call a timeout after an icing call against them.
11:08- The Avs get some great zone time, but the Pens are able to avoid any danger.
14:21- Payerl speeds into the Avs zone and gets the puck behind the net. He pivots and puts the puck at the post, but Varlamov holds strong at the post.
16:28- Flower was great once again in the net during the PK. Payerl is released and gets a one on one chance coming out of the box. Payerl rips a shot, but Varlamov makes the blocker save!
18:28- Payerl headed off to sit in timeout for high sticking and the Avs get a forth PP of the game.
19:42- O'REILLY SCORES! The Pens turnover the puck in the defensive zone and O'Reilly receives an outlet pass from behind the net. He directs one into the net from the side. 2-1 Pens.
20:00- The third period is now on! The Pens need to keep up the hard work and not let up on the Avs! Lets Go Pens!
2nd Period
0:00- Second period ends and the Pens have taken control of this game! They have the lead 2-0 over the Avs!
1:46- Neal fires a backhander in the slot, but it flies wide of the net.
3:25- Flower flips out the pad to stop Talbot on a sneaking shot from the faceoff circle.
5:30- The Pens are playing a good game and pressuring the Avs in their own zone. Forcing turnovers as the hound the Avs in the offensive and neutral zones.
9:05- Flower has been solid tonight and holding down the fort. The Pens have another great PK as Gibbons is finally set free.
11:05- The Avs will get their third PP of the game as Gibbons heads to the sin bin for hooking.
12:52- SUTTER SCORES ON THE PP! Jokinen puts a hard pass into the slot area and Sutter redirects the puck between the pads of Varlamov! That is Sutter's second goal of the night! 2-0 Pens!
13:16- It's time for the Pens to get a PP opportunity as Benoit high-sticks Neal on a play.
16:14- SUTTER SCORES! Sutter flies down the wing and whips one right pass the glove of Varlamov! The Pens strike first and lead 1-0!
