Welcome Back Penguins!

The Penguins are back from their Olympic break and ready to take on the Montreal Canadiens at Consol Energy Center! A huge congrats to Jussi Jokinen and Olli Maatta on receiving the Bronze Medal and Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz on capturing the Gold Medal! It's great to have everyone back and on one team. No more having to watch and feel divided with the Penguin players on different national teams. Kris Letang spoke to the media and gave a detailed interview about his stoke. It's great to see him talking and looking to be doing well. Make sure to check out the video on the Penguins website. Also on the injury front, Paul Martin will be out 4-6 weeks with a broken hand. The Penguins are not a stranger to having top players out of the lineup and will look to get back on track after this long break. Lets take it to the Canadiens and show them why the Penguins lead the Eastern Conference! Lets Go Pens!

1:00- Back and forth game. Both teams with some chances, but still tied up.

3:19- Flower with a nice glove save on Gallagher's shot!

3rd Period
0:00- We are headed to OT!

2:12- The Pens are back to full strength!

5:54- BRIERE SCORES ON THE PP! The Habs crash the net. Briere is left alone at the side and reaches in to put it in.

7:12- Glass gets a 5 minute major penalty and is sent to the locker room. Horrible call since Emelin hit himself with his own stick. Unreal and it could be the difference in this game! COME ON PENS!

7:31- SID SCORES ON THE PP!!!!! The Pens make the Habs dizzy from their passing play and deadly PP unit! Sid gets the puck at a sharp angle by the side of the net! Sid lasers a shot to the back of the Habs net to put the Pens up 5-4!

8:43- The Pens will get another PP as Emelin skates over to the sin bin for tripping!

9:46- Murray and Sid are released from the box. Sid is looking hungry for a goal after that penalty.

11:46- Murray is headed back to the box for roughing and Sid also heads off, but for slashing. 4 on 4 hockey.

12:20- EMELIN SCORES! The Habs have bodies in front of Flower to screen him and that gives Emelin a change from the blue line. His blue line shot finds its way pass the pad of Flower. This game is tied again 4-4.

12:44- SUTTER SCORES A SHORTHANDED GOAL!!!! Subban tries to bring the puck into the Pens zone, but Sutter strips him of the puck and takes it the other way! Sutter is all alone and beats Budaj to give the Pens the lead 4-3 over the Habs!

14:22- Geno takes a penalty against Subban for slashing. The Habs will get their second PP of the game.

17:16- The Pens get some great chances on net during the PP, but the Habs hold them off to keep this game tied up 3-3.

19:16- Murray is sent off to take a seat for interference on Gibbons. The Pens bring out their PP unit.

20:00- Time for the Pens to take control of this game and keep it! Lets Go Pens!


2nd Period
0:00- Second period ends and this game is all tied up 3-3!

1:33- The Habs avoid the Pens dangerous PP, but the Pens worked really hard to get their chances.

3:33- Sid draws a penalty as he tries to split the defense. The Pens will get their third PP of the game as Emelin sits for interference.

5:48- This is a quick back and forth game right now with both sides getting chances on net.

8:25- PACIORETTY SCORES ON THE PP! The Habs pass all over the Pens zone and Pacioretty is left all alone at the side and Pacioretty blusters one up high. 3-3 tie game once again.

9:13- The Habs now will have a chance at a PP as Vitale is called for tripping.

9:22- MAATTA SCORES ON THE PP!!! Maatta fires a sick shot from the blue line and it blows pass the shoulder of Budaj! The Pens retake the lead 3-2 over the Habs!

9:53- The Pens with some great puck possession during the PP. Budaj is able to make the save and give the Habs a change as everyone was tired.

11:19- The Pens are going back on the PP as Eller is sent to the sin bin for hooking.

13:43- BRIERE SCORES! Briere has time and holds the puck while drifting backwards. Briere roofs one over Flower and ties the game 2-2!

15:16- The Habs hold the puck behind the Pens net and try to come out to the front, but Flower makes the save with an outstretched pad. Geno clears it out of harms way.

18:14- The Habs kill the Pens PP and Bourque is released from his prison!

18:49- The Pens have a beautiful passing play on the PP. Geno puts it through the center of the Habs zone over to Kuni. Kuni dishes it to Sid at the side of the net, but Sid doesn't get all of the puck! He had Budaj beat! So close!

20:00- Second period time! The Pens will start the period with a PP for 1:46! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- First period ends and the Pens have the lead 2-1 over the Habs!

0:14- Bourque takes a seat for holding! The Pens get a PP!

1:12- Glass searches for the puck in front of Budaj, but the Habs get to it first.

4:12- ENGO SCORES!! Engo joins the rush and Neal passes if off to him! He rips a shot right pass the shoulder of Budaj! Engo scoring even when he is not a forward for the night! The Pens take the lead 2-1!

6:57- Geno and Neal with another fantastic passing play! Neal fires a wicked shot, which Budaj gets a piece of it and it goes behind him, hitting the post! UNREAL!

11:37- NEAL SCORES! Geno makes a great pass over to Neal! Neal rifles one between the post and Budaj into the back of the net! Geno and Neal have been reunited and it feels so good! 1-1 tie game!

13:58- GALLAGHER SCORES! Sutter tries a pass attempt, but Gallaher incepts the puck. He follows up on the reobund and puts it around the outstretch pad of Flower. Habs strike first and have a 1-0 lead to start.

20:00- Time to get back to Penguins hockey! Lets start this out right with a dominating win! Lets Go Pens! 

One More Before the Olympic Break!

The Penguins are ready to wrap up this game against the New York Rangers at Consol and head off for the Olympics in Sochi! The Penguins want to get a win and keep the momentum going before they have two weeks off. The Penguin fans got some scary news today as GM Ray Shero announced that Kris Letang had a stroke. It was due to a small hole in his heart, which he has had since birth. The doctors say he will be out for about six weeks, but it won't jeopardize his hockey career. Hopefully everything turns out good and he gets a full bill of health! Here is to keeping Letang in our thoughts! The Penguins need to come out strong and with speed, put points up on the board and don't look back! Lets Go Pens!

Shootout
Rangers get the win 4-3 over the Pens in a shootout. That will be the last of Pens hockey for two weeks and it wasn't a great way to end it for the Olympic break. That will make us more hungry for it when it comes back!

0:00- Overtime is not enough! Shootout time!

1:38- The Pens ice the puck, but Sid and Kuni are on the ice.

3:04- Sutter gets the puck behind the Rangers defense, but his shot goes wide of the net!

5:00- 60 minutes wasn't enough! It's time for OT! Lets Go Pens!


3rd Period
0:00- We are headed to OT!

1:00- The game is starting to get a little crazy and teams getting more room as the time whines down in this period.

2:56- NEAL SCORES!!! Maatta jumps up on the play, takes the puck off the boards and puts it in the slot area! The puck is bouncing, but Neal directs it over the pad of Lundqvist! 3-3 tie game once again!

4:00- Jokinen puts the puck through the blue paint, but Sutter can't find the loose puck. The Rangers move the puck out of danger.

6:30- Geno dances through the Rangers zone, but stick handles one to many times and the Rangers clear the puck.

10:30- POULIOT SCORES ON THE PP! The puck bounces off the back boards and Pouliot quickly roofs a shot. Rangers take the lead 3-2.

11:02- Orpik will have visit the sin bin for holding. Rangers to the PP.

12:34- The Pens PP comes to an end. Sid had a wide open net chance, but was tripped up on the play.

14:34- McDonagh heads over to take a seat in the sin bin for hooking. The Pens get a PP as a result.

14:38- Both teams are back to full strength!

16:38- Zolnierczyk and Moore get matching roughing penalties and we will have some 4 on 4 hockey.

20:00- Now it's third period time! The Pens need to keep taking it to the Rangers and put pucks on net! Lets Go Pens!


2nd Period
0:00- The second period ends and the teams have extended the tie to 2-2.

1:30- Maatta lets go of a slap shot, but he doesn't get all of it. Lundqvist steers the puck away from the net.

2:47- The Pens are back to full strength.

4:33- Rangers PP for 1:43.

4:50- 4 on 4 for 17 seconds. Kuni is in the box for roughing, which will be for four minutes. Zuccarello only gets two minutes for roughing.

5:54- Hagelin is called for hooking, but Neal gets a matching penalty and his is an embellishment penalty.

6:33- Nash takes a tripping penalty and the Pens get another PP chance.

6:37- Nash with a backhand chance on the doorstep, but he misses the net!

11:31- GENO SCORES ON THE PP!! Wow what a passing play by the Pens on that PP! Neal and Geno trade passes at the faceoff circle! Geno blast one pass Lundqvist! 2-2 tie game!

11:49- Now it's the Pens turn on the PP as Nash is caught for interference.

12:09- The Pens make up for the bad PK earlier and show the Rangers. Glass was a beast on that PK!

14:09- Orpik heads to the box for interference and the Rangers get another PP chance.

14:18- The Pens are playing sloppy with trying to clear the puck from their own end.

15:39- Flower makes a solid save as the Rangers are right on his doorstep!

19:26- GIRARDI SCORES ON THE PP! Girardi fires from the point and it goes over the shoulder of Flower. Flower didn't see it as he was screened on the play. 2-1 Rangers.

19:30- Neal is sent to the sin bin for slashing and the Rangers get their first PP of the game.

20:00- It's time for the second period! The Pens need to come out with more speed and outwork the Rangers! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- First period ends and this game is tied at 1-1.

1:28- The Rangers seem to be controlling the end of this period. The Pens are going have to step up in the second period.

2:55- Flower protects the goal with a great poke check to disrupt a Rangers play in front of the net.

4:53- Sid gets a chance, but his hard shot goes off a stick and wide of the net!

8:14- MAATTA SCORES ON THE PP! Sid gets the puck in front of the net and Lundqvist makes the save! Maatta jumps in the backdoor and buries one! 1-1 tie game!

9:45- The Pens will get the first PP of the game as Hagelin will take a seat for interference.

11:40- Sid blows pass Nash and gets a breakaway! Lundqvist comes out to challenge and makes the save on Sid's quick release snap shot.

13:26- The Rangers have come out with some speed and the Penguins are slower to get things going, but that isn't unusual for them.

18:46- ZUCCARELLO SCORES! Flower makes a split pad save and holds the puck between his skate and the post. No whistle is blown and after a few whacks at Flower's skate, Zuccarello jams it over the goal line. 1-0 Rangers.

20:00- The puck drops at Consol! Time for the Pens to get down to business! Lets Go Pens! 

Rivalry Night in Buffalo!

The Penguins are in Buffalo to take on the Sabres for Wednesday night rivalry night! The Penguins are coming off a overtime win against the Ottawa Senators Tuesday night. The Penguins are looking to continue this and having a winning streak going into the Olympic break. The Penguins have to play a smart hockey game and limit the turnovers. The Buffalo Sabres are lucky to have an Olympic goaltender in the net and he has proven solid in the net. The Penguins need to put pucks on net and get traffic in front of Ryan Miller! The Penguins will have Marc-Andre Fleury in the net tonight and he has been on his game. Battle of the goalies tonight! Game time! Lets Go Pens!

0:00- PENS WIN 5-1 OVER THE BUFFALO SABRES! THE PENS SKILLED PLAYING PREVAILED AND SID BEAT MILLER ONCE AGAIN! 

0:43- The Pens will get a PP to end this game as Ellis is called for boarding.

1:00- Flower makes a great save from a Scott point shot! WOW!

2:30- The Pens are moving the puck well since the second period. They are connecting and making sharp plays.

4:41- The Sabres get some time in the Pens zone, but they don't create any chances on net.

7:48- NEAL SCORES!!!!! Geno carries the puck up the ice and passes to Neal! Neal goes back to Geno, he enters the Sabres zone! Geno drops a pass to Neal and he fires one over the pad and under the blocker of Miller! 5-1 Pens!

10:07- The Pens have kept the puck in the Sabres end for the most part and still pressuring them in the offensive zone.

14:36- GIBBONS SCORES!!!! Sutter wins an offensive zone face off and Gibbons rips on high pass Miller! 4-1 Pens!

18:00- Glass and Scott are released from their boxes.

19:59- 4 on 4 hockey as Glass and Scott got unsportsmanlike conduct penalties after the second period ended.

20:00- Third period time! The Pens need to keep up the pressure and not back off the Sabres! Lets do this! Lets Go Pens!


2nd Period
0:00- Second period ends and the Pens take the lead 3-1 over the Sabres!

0:40- Sid and Ott battle in front of Flower. The Pens won't stand for that, but someone is going to step in. Glass? Bortuzzo?

2:12- GENO SCORES!!! Geno gets his own pass out of the Pens zone and stick handles right around the Sabres D! Then he put the puck around Miller into the back of the net! 3-1 Pens!

2:33- The Sabres get an extended period of time in the Pens zone, but the Pens avoid danger!

6:11- Flower comes across the goal line stretched out to make a blocker save!

7:04- Neal gets a breakaway chance, but shoots the puck wide of the net!

9:35- The Pens have turned this game around during this period. Sid has been amazing on the ice this period and is flying out there!

13:52- Weber is set free from his prison as the Pens are unable to capitalize on the PP.

15:52- The Pens are going back onto the PP as Weber skates to the box for holding the stick of a Penguin.

17:53- SIDNEY CROSBY SCORES ON THE PP!! Flower makes a pad save at the other end of the ice and the Pens get the puck up to Sid. Sid slips Sabres defense and gets pass him. Sid greets Miller with a wrister! 2-1 Pens

18:19- Sutter gets a great scoring chance and draws a tripping penalty on McBain. The Pens get a PP!

20:00- Time to get the second period going! The Pens need to keep pressuring the Sabres and put pucks on net! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- First period ends and we are tied 1-1 after the first!

0:22- The Sabres are unsuccessful and Niskanen is released!

2:22- The Pens will have to kill off a Sabres PP as Niskanen is sent to the box for high sticking.

4:58- ZOLNIERCZYK SCORES! Sid races to the corner to get the puck and fights to get a dish pass out to Zolnierczyk in front of Miller! Harry Z puts it up high! 1-1 tie game!

7:43- Scott and Engo drop the gloves! DING! DING! Both guys got some good hits in, Scott had the size advantage at 6'8" to Engo 6'2"!

8:51- Zolnierczyk has headed down the runway to the locker room.

11:35- The Sabres have come out with jump in their step and have been taking it to the Pens. The Pens need to start cleaning up their plays and pressuring the Sabres in the offensive zone more.

14:00- STAFFORD SCORES! The Pens turnover the puck behind the net and the Sabres put it on net. Flower makes the first save, but Stafford is able to fish out the loose puck and put it in the net. 1-0 Sabres.

14:46- The Sabres kill off the Pens PP and Sulzer is released from the sin bin.

16:46- The Pens will get the first PP of the game as Sulzer takes a seat for interference.

17:17- Flower has been challenged to start this game and has come up with solid saves! The Pens need to pressure the Sabres more.

20:00- Puck drop! Wednesday Night Rivalry Night! The Pens need to put pucks on net and get traffic in front of Ryan Miller! Lets Go Pens! 

The Senators are in Pittsburgh!

Hello everyone! I am glad to be back, but I am not a 100% yet. I have been sick with a fever and trying to recover. I am doing much better and am going to get this website back on track. The Penguins welcome the Senators to Consol Energy Center tonight to battle it out! As for the lineup tonight, Kris Letang will be out again with an undisclosed illness. The good thing is that Letang will have the Olympic break to recover and come back strong. This week is the last week of NHL games for two weeks for the Olympics! The Pens need to come out with speed and bounce back after losing on the road to the Phoenix Coyotes! Lets Go Pens!

2:13- NEAL SCORES!! Neal picks the pocket of Spezza! Geno picks up the puck and passes to Bortuzzo in the slot! Anderson makes the save, but Neal gets the rebound! He holds the puck and buries one! 2-1 Pens

3:56- Sid was determined to get a shot away! He fights off Smith! He shots with one hand and sends Smith flying with the other!

5:00- Well regulation wasn't enough for these two teams! The Pens have had some great chances and Flower has been strong! Lets get the win! Lets Go Pens!


3rd Period
0:00- We are headed to overtime!

1:00- Only a minute left and we are still tied 1-1! Going to get crazy!

2:57- Neal outlets a pass to Jokinen from behind the net! Jokinen whacks one that just goes wide of Anderson!

5:37- Bortuzzo puts a hard shot on net, but Anderson meets the challenge!

6:19- The Pens with a successful kill of the Sens PP!

8:19- The Pens are caught with too many men on the ice and Jokinen will serve the penalty. Sens get another PP chance.

8:33- Both teams are back full strength!

9:13- Maatta fires a shot off the faceoff and it rings off the goal post!

10:33- 4 on 4 hockey time for two minutes. Glass in the box for roughing and Turris for unsportsmanlike conduct.

10:34- MARC-ANDRE FLEURY! WHAT A GLOVE SAVE! HIGHWAY ROBBERY! Karlsson is left wide open and rips a shot on net! Flower comes across the net and flashes the glove! That is a glove save for the ages!

14:42- The Pens are unsuccessful on their short PP chance.

15:27- Pens PP for 45 seconds!

16:42- Adams draws a penalty as Turris is called for interference. 4 on 4 hockey for 1:15!

17:27- The Pens will bring out their PK unit for the first time tonight as Niskanen takes a seat for tripping.

20:00- Third period! The Pens need to keep shooting the puck and pressuring the Sens in their own zone! Lets Go Pens!


2nd Period
0:00- Second period ends and we are still tied!

1:42- The Pens have picked up the pace for the second period and getting pucks on net. One thing they are doing more of is shooting the puck! Pens have 29 shots on net!

8:04- Geno with some great outlet passes! Maatta fires, Niskanen fires, Neal fires! What a shift by the Pens!

9:22- Pyatt will not return tonight with a lower-body injury.

11:00- The Sens are able to kill off the Pens PP. Anderson was strong in the net during the Pens PP.

13:00- Neil high sticks Kuni and the Pens will get a PP opportunity!

15:47- Geno dances through the neutral zone and draws some Sens players, which leaves Adams open. Adams fires a shot on the wing, but Anderson makes a save with his mask!

17:23- Sutter gets behind the Sens defense and has speed. He is denied by the pads of Anderson.

20:00- The second period is underway! 4 on 4 hockey left for 43 seconds! The Pens need to play physical and keep taking it to the Sens! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- First period ends and we are tied 1-1!

1:17- Gryba sits for cross-checking and Neal is also in the box. 4 on 4 hockey time.

2:06- Smith and Bortuzzo drop the gloves! Ding Ding! It's a spirited fight and Bortuzzo comes out with a punishing hit on Smith! Great fight!

3:33- GIBBONS SCORES ON THE PP! Maatta fires from the point and Gibbons redirects the puck! It goes right pass Anderson to the back of the net! 1-1 tie game!

5:27- Smith is headed to the box for boarding. The Pens are going on the PP!

5:55- DA COSTA SCORES! Da Costa puts one up over the shoulder of Flower. It looked like there was no room, but he found it. 1-0 Sens.

7:10- Sutter battles for the loose puck in front of Anderson, but the Sens are able to clear it out of danger.

9:39- The Sens are shadowing Sid on every shift. He is not getting any room and the Pens need to resolve that.

12:12- Martin with a great shot from the point. Anderson makes the save. This came right after a great blocker save by the Flower!

14:02- Sutter gets time and space! He whips one, but Anderson makes a solid glove save!

15:55-  Kuni fires a shot off the boards towards Anderson. Anderson with the glove save.

19:37- Pyatt is being helped down the runway to the locker room.

20:00- It's Hockey Night in Pittsburgh! The Pens battle the Sens! Lets Go Pens!
