The Bruins came on really strong in the start of the game and Johnson had to make some big early saves to keep the Bruins scoreless. Sid started the scoring with roofing a shot in the top corner of the net, over Turco's shoulder. Duper had an assist and extended his point streak.
The Pens got a little sloppy on defense at the end of the first and the Bruins Pouliot was able to get a goal. He had the Bruins within one goal right as the period ended.
About 48 seconds into the second the Bruins Lucic tied up the game. The Pens had a turnover in the D zone that lead to Lucic being wide open and able to put one in the net.
After that Johnson and Turco had to make some key saves, but it was a pretty much a back and forth passing game. Nothing interesting going on till there was about 2:30 left in the second period.
Right after Neal scored him and Ference dropped the gloves and went at it. It was a spirited fight. Ference started it and Neal wasn't going to fight, but wasn't taking anymore.
The Pens still had a normal PP to work with and didn't waste that either. Sid was able to sneak to the side of the net and send one home in the empty net. The Pens ended the second with a 4-2 lead.
The Bruins didn't go quietly. They came out hard to start the third with Seguin getting a great breakaway chance, but Johnson came up with the pad save. Asham was able to redirect a puck in the net to put the Pens up 5-2.
The Bruins emptied their net and the end, but Chara took a late penalty. The Pens came out with a win over the defending Stanley Cup Champions.
It was a great bounce back game for the Pens after a loss to the Flyers. Hopefully they can carry the momentum into their net game on Thursday against the Rangers.
